No Pants Friday: Day to Night!

There are so many ways to transform an outfit! Do you find yourself wearing a cute outfit during the day and wanting to show it off at night out? Well here is how I did it using my favorite pink flowy dress from H&M as the staple piece.

For Daytime: I paired the dress with cute belt with a gold little bow, and nude flats.

For Nighttime: I threw on some black heels with snakeskin straps that i got from my mom's closet (thanks mom xo), a pair of gold hoops (not shown well in picture) and a bold black and gold statement necklace that I had peeking from under the collar.
For Accessories for both outfits, I stacked on some gold rings and a few simple bracelets. Accessories like belts, shoes and jewelry can really change an outfit up to go from day to night. Also make up help with the transition, but unfortunately due to bad lighting and bad cameras there were horrible pictures of my make up.

What do you guys think of my transitional outfit? Let me know in the comments below!

Sophomore Year!

Ahhhhh! My first week being a sophomore OVER! I swear, trying to get back into the swing of the things was a little hard: getting up early, living with 5 other people, going to class, etc. However, it's been very enjoyable.

Well, I'm taking a total of 5 classes - three being for my Fashion Merchandising major: Fashion Buying and Merchandising Principles, Introduction to Accounting, and Textile Evaluation. Some of you are probably thinking, "Accounting? What does that have to do with fashion?". Not a got damn thing. However, if you want to go more into the merchandising side of the industry, then it has a lot to do with it.

My Fashion Buying and Merchandising Principles class deals with mathematical concepts that are involved in profitable retail buying. When you're a buyer in the industry, you have to do so much math in order to stay on top of the merchandise! Thankfully, you just need to know the basics: adding, subtracting, division, and multiplying. However, you do need to know how to convert decimals, fractions, and percents into each other; don't worry, they'll will re-teach you these things! It's mostly not too bad haha.

Next, there is my Textile Evaluation class. We learn how to test textiles using standard techniques and methods. I think it is going to be a fun class because it's hands on - which is something I LOVE. And we get to set fabric on fire a.k.a. the coolest thing ever (safely, of course.)

Then there is Accounting...*cues funeral music*. I'm not going to even try and sugar coat this. You have to be mentally prepared for this class because it is ALOT of information to take in. It's not one of those classes you'll be able to slide by. My teacher emphasized on the amount of studying we have to do in order to just comprehend. However, I'm up for the challenge - especially since I need to pass this class in order to graduate, so yeah.

All in all, this semester is going to be good one. Thankfully, I have a great group of friends and good teacher. I'll keep you all posted on my process and even post pictures occasionally!!

First Year Review : Tee

Well my first year at Marymount University was certainly interesting! I've learned so much in just a few month not only academically but just about life as well. Coming to college I thought I was going to be so busy and go to a party like every night....WRONG! I had a lot more free time then I would have liked, and the partying kind of wore out within the first 6 weeks. The best advice I could give anyone is to not be closed minded and judge people the second you meet them because you'll never know how your paths will cross later on.

I took a total of 3 fashion classes for the year. First semester I took textile, which is the general study of fabric and it's contents and characteristics. We had to complete a binder filled with many samples of fabric we learned about, which will be very helpful in the future! We also took a trip to the textile museum to learn about fibers and filaments. The most interesting thing was the fabric from the Ming Dynasty.

Second semester I took 2 fashion classes, Fashion Industry and it's Promotions and Clothing Construction. In Fashion Ind.& Promo, we learned about what it takes to plan and run a fashion show. We even had to create our own mock fashion show. I never knew how much work and advance planning it takes to create one of these shows. I will definitely keep in mind next time I watch a fashion show how dedicated everyone involved must be, and it makes me appreciate how much hard work goes into these shows. In CC, we learned how to do various hand stitches like the blanket stitch and the diagonal stitch and so many different techniques you could use on the machine. In total we made a tote bag, a skirt, and a shirt.

I wanted to go out and meet more people and get involved on campus. I joined the fashion club which is Marymount's biggest club, and it was one of the best decisions I've made there. It opened the doors to amazing opportunities and I've meet some amazing people. The fashion club gives us a chance to volunteer at local fashion shows around the D.C area, and work as backstage help, dressers, and greeters. Within this semester alone I've done 6 fashion shows just within the first semester, including one for the CW network and even Valentino! This is something I'm definitely looking forward to this school year.
